Cortagen peptide: Metabolic / Longevity research guide

In short: Cortagen (Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro / AEDP) is a synthetic tetrapeptide from the Khavinson short-peptide family, designed from the amino-acid composition of a brain-cortex peptide preparation and studied in nerve and cortical tissue models. It is studied in preclinical (cell and animal) research and is supplied strictly for laboratory use, not for human or clinical use.

Not medical advice. Cortagen is a research compound. This guide does not provide dosing, diagnosis, therapy recommendations, or claims about effects in humans.

    What Cortagen is

Cortagen (Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro, "AEDP") is a four-residue synthetic peptide from the Khavinson bioregulator family, designed from a brain-cortex peptide preparation and studied in nerve and cortical tissue models.

One-paragraph overview from our research datasheet. Still scientific, but faster to read than the full mechanism list below.

    Research contexts

Peer-reviewed papers discuss Cortagen in specific lab settings. The points below reflect research questions, not health claims.

Research vs. personal use: Literature describes experiments in cells and animals. That is distinct from real-world use. Our products are for laboratory research only.

    Typical study contexts

  • Mitochondrial stress, NAD+/redox biology and nutrient-sensing pathways.
  • Enzyme activity, gene expression or endurance-style animal readouts.
  • Synthetic Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro (AEDP) tetrapeptide from the Khavinson short-peptide lineage.
  • Designed from the amino-acid composition of a brain-cortex peptide preparation.
  • Studied in a rat sciatic-nerve transection model and in brain-cortex explants.
  • Examined for gene-expression changes in mouse heart by microarray.
  • Why Metabolic / Longevity research matters

Researchers study these compounds for mitochondrial function and cellular energy stress. Ageing and metabolic disease models are common.

    Mechanisms (technical review)

Our datasheet lists mechanistic themes from preclinical work. These are research endpoints, not health claims.

  • Common Questions People Are Asking

    What is Cortagen?

Cortagen is the name used for the synthetic tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro (AEDP), designed by the Khavinson group from the amino-acid composition of a brain-cortex peptide preparation. It is supplied here as a laboratory research powder only.

How does Cortagen differ from Epitalon?

They share the Ala-Glu-Asp stem. Epitalon ends in glycine (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) and Cortagen in proline (Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro). A study from the originating group notes that the two behaved differently in the same experiment, with Epitalon affecting immune and haemostasis markers in hypophysectomised birds where Cortagen did not.

What does the research on Cortagen show?

In rats, a 10-day course was reported to speed regenerating nerve fibres and raise conduction velocity after sciatic-nerve transection. In mice it changed expression of 234 of 15,247 cDNA clones in the heart. Several comparisons with related peptides were weaker or null. All of it is preclinical.

Is there a Certificate of Analysis for Cortagen?

Not yet. No independent analytical report has been published for this material, so no purity figure is quoted.

Is there human data on Cortagen?

No controlled human trial was found. Cortagen is sold strictly for in-vitro and preclinical research, not for human or veterinary use.

Is this page medical advice? Can I use Cortagen for my health?

No, and no. This article is educational only. We do not provide dosing, medical recommendations, or health claims. Our products are sold strictly for laboratory research, not for personal use of any kind.

Where do I find Cortagen specs, purity certificates and pricing?

Open the shop listing via “View product details.” There you will see concentration, purity grade, and available SKUs with current pricing. No current Certificate of Analysis is published for Cortagen yet; published certificates are listed at /coa.
