Peptide
A short chain of amino acids (typically 2–50 residues) joined by peptide bonds. Smaller and more selective than full proteins; many act as endogenous signalling molecules studied in laboratory research.
Research compound
Laboratory-grade material supplied for in-vitro and animal-model research. On this site it is synonymous with research peptides and related compounds — not a regulatory product category for human use.
Reconstitution
Dissolving lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptide powder in bacteriostatic or sterile water to prepare a research solution. Laboratory dilution chemistry only — not human dosing or injection instructions.
Bacteriostatic water (BAC)
Sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol. The standard diluent for multi-use peptide research vials because the preservative inhibits microbial growth between aliquots.
Lyophilised
Freeze-dried. Most research peptides ship as lyophilised powder for thermal stability and shelf life before reconstitution.
HPLC purity
Peak-area normalisation by reversed-phase High-Performance Liquid Chromatography — the canonical purity metric reported on peptide Certificates of Analysis.
CoA (Certificate of Analysis)
A third-party laboratory document attesting identity, purity (typically HPLC), and related quality metrics for a specific manufacturing batch of a research compound.
RUO (Research Use Only)
Labelling that the material is intended strictly for laboratory research and is not approved as a medicine, food, or cosmetic for human use. New-U compounds are supplied under RUO framing.
GLP-1
Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 — an incretin hormone. Research mimetics discussed on this site include Semaglutide (mono-agonist), Tirzepatide (GLP-1 + GIP), and Retatrutide (triple agonist).
GHRH
Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone. Pituitary GHRHR agonists studied in research include Sermorelin, Tesamorelin, and CJC-1295 analogues that trigger pulsatile GH release in experimental models.
GHRP
Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide — ghrelin-receptor (GHSR-1a) agonists such as GHRP-2, GHRP-6, Hexarelin, and Ipamorelin, often studied alongside GHRH analogues.
Endotoxin / LAL
Limulus Amebocyte Lysate assay measuring bacterial endotoxin contamination. Relevant quality control for injectable research models; not a human-use clearance.
Evidence tier
How this site frames claim strength: Tier 1 (human RCT or approved indication), Tier 2 (pilot/observational or robust in-vivo), Tier 3 (in-vitro or limited animal data), and anecdotal (n-of-1 reports, never primary citations).
IGF-1
Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 — a primary downstream mediator of growth hormone signalling. LR3 is a long-acting analogue with reduced IGF-binding-protein affinity used in skeletal-muscle research models.
Melanocortin receptors
A family of G-protein-coupled receptors (MC1R–MC5R) involved in pigmentation, energy balance, and other pathways. Targeted in research by compounds such as Melanotan analogues and PT-141.
