Helix loader lab

This page runs the real page-transition loader (the helix you see between pages), so what it measures is what visitors get. It is a test tool, not a store page.

Run it

A real navigation loads this page again through the loader, the same document swap a page change makes, and reports the frame rate from the click to the reveal. The demo only shows the loader over this page; touching the screen dismisses it.

Every simulated block is labelled SIMULATED helix-lab CPU load in a DevTools recording and counted apart from the page's own long tasks. Only Plain reflects what a visitor gets.

Empty or warm cache: the report says whether the loader's files came from the network or the cache. For an empty-cache run, tick Disable cache in DevTools (Network) or hard-reload first.

Recording a trace

Frame gaps are main-thread stalls, which a HAR file (network only) cannot show. In Chrome, open DevTools, choose Performance, press Record, run a real navigation, stop, and save the profile.
