What is Pinealon used for in research?
It is studied for neuronal survival under stress — rodent prenatal-hypoxia models and oxidative insult in cultured neurons — with reactive oxygen species, apoptosis markers and behavioural learning and memory measures as the reported endpoints. It also serves as a structure-activity comparator against the other Khavinson cytogens. It is supplied here for laboratory research only and is not for human use.
How does Pinealon relate to Epitalon and Cartalax?
All three come from the same short-peptide bioregulator programme and share its proposed mechanism. They differ in sequence and in the tissue each is associated with: AEDG (Epitalon) with the pineal gland and telomerase research, AED (Cartalax) with cartilage and connective tissue, and EDR (Pinealon) with brain and neuronal tissue. Comparing them directly is one of the more informative experiments available.
How is a three-amino-acid peptide supposed to regulate genes?
The proposal from the originating programme is that peptides this small can pass through cell and nuclear membranes without a dedicated transporter and contact DNA directly, binding particular sequences in promoter regions and altering how much of the associated gene is transcribed. Modelling and binding work within the programme supports it. It is not a conventional receptor mechanism and has not been independently established.
How strong is the evidence for Pinealon?
Weaker than the volume of publications suggests. The animal and cell work is real, but it originates overwhelmingly from a single research programme, appears substantially in Russian-language and regional journals, and has seen limited independent replication. There are no controlled human trials of Pinealon. Treat it as an early-stage research compound rather than a validated tool.
How should Pinealon be stored?
Keep the lyophilised powder frozen at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. After reconstitution in bacteriostatic water or sterile saline, refrigerate at 1–6 °C and use it promptly — short peptides in solution are prone to hydrolysis and to microbial growth. Aliquot after reconstitution and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles where the protocol allows.
